Peaches Geldof's Funeral: Family, Friends Gather
BREAKING NEWS
Peaches Geldof, whose sudden death last week at 25 remains a mystery, was laid to rest on Monday in the same British church where she wed her husband, Thomas Cohen, in 2012.
Family members, including Cohen, father Bob Geldof, and 23-year-old sister Pixie, were present at the private memorial at Davington Church St. Mary Magdalene & St. Lawrence in Faversham, England.
Several close friends also were in attendance, among them Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, Trudie Styler, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, musician Jools Holland, Sir Bob's Boomtown Rats bandmate Pete Briquette, Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, TV presenters Nick Grimshaw and Jo Wood, and actress Jaime Winstone. Peaches and Cohen's two sons — Astala, 23 months, and 11-month-old Phaedra — were not among those reported to be present, however.
Peaches's coffin, painted blue and featuring images of her husband, sons, dogs, cat, and several peaches, was seen being transported to the service. The coffin was adorned with several flower arrangements including one with lavender roses. Prior to the funeral, loved ones were spotted gathering at Bob Geldof's country home in Davington Priory, which is adjacent to the church and where Peaches grew up.
Her father and younger sister Pixie gave eulogies during the ceremony.
Peaches, a TV host and model, and daughter of musician-humanitarian Bob Geldof and model Paula Yates, was found dead in her home on April 7. Initial medical examinations proved inconclusive and results of toxicology tests are expected in the coming weeks.
Kent Police said her death was being treated as "non-suspicious but unexplained and sudden."
The same church was also used for services for her mother Paula Yates, who died of a heroin overdose in 2000 when Peaches was only 11.
